Proposal For Corporate Sponsor Support -
2008 Season
Who is a Triathlete?
The average triathlete is between 25-54 years of age.
Approximately 40% of the athletes are female. In general,
triathletes are college educated, have an average income
of $50,000 and are most likely to be employed in professional/managerial
occupations. A high percentage of triathletes own their
own home.
Triathletes come from many athletic backgrounds. The
primary motivation for people to participate in triathlons
is the desire for a new challenge. While many competitors
consider themselves casual racers, there is a strong commitment
among all triathletes to pursue an active and healthy
lifestyle.
Because of their participation in three different events,
triathletes purchase a large variety of exercise and health-related
products on an annual basis. A readership survey in
Triathlete Magazine reported that the average
triathlete spends more than $2,000 on sports, fitness
and health products every year. In addition, triathletes
influence the buying decisions of friends, colleagues
and relatives. Readership surveys conducted by Triathlon
Today indicate the triathletes influence others
to the tune of 30 to 60 million dollars in additional
sales each year.
The bottom line is that triathletes are an ideal audience
for health and fitness-related products and services.
We represent a multimillion-dollar resource.
Why become a CDTC Sponsor?
An increasing number of advertisers are focusing their
efforts on very specific demographics and lifestyle characteristics.
With the rapidly rising cost of mass marketing, specific
approaches reach the advertiser's target audience in a
cost-effective manner.
Triathletes provide the ultimate endorsement for advertisers
who wish to express their commitment to an outdoor oriented
lifestyle of sports, health and fitness. Triathletes
are active year round, and many are involved with both
cold and warm weather sports. Our consumer base includes
a wide range of services because we participate in not
just one sport, but many. Similarly, our sponsorship comes
from a diverse range of companies, such as manufacturers
and marketers of dietary supplies, fitness apparel, bicycles,
eye wear, shampoo, sunscreen and medical services.
The CDTC and its members can provide you with an exceptional
promotional opportunity in exchange for your financial
and/or equipment sponsorship. We spend money and influence
others who do so as well. A typical CDTC member
participates in at least five triathlons, seven road races
and countless hours of training, while wearing Club clothing.
As a sponsor, your corporate logo and/or slogans would
appear on CDTC member uniforms, in the newsletter and
on our web site. This translates into repeated exposure
of your corporate logo by each member of the CDTC. Visibility
between members and spectators translates into a significant
number of impressions for the sponsor to potential consumers.
In addition, members are dedicated to supporting and further
promoting their sponsors.
Marketing Opportunities
Your company can become a Corporate Sponsor of the CDTC
in one of several ways:
Financial Support - There are various levels of
financial support that your company can provide. It is
important to note that CDTC members not only participate
in local and regional events but also on the national
and international level. The CDTC is a non-profit organization
and your financial support can help defray Club costs
for travel, training and insurance expenses. All of these
items are an integral part of our Club’s survival and
club sponsorship of local events.
Equipment Sponsor - Your company would agree to
provide equipment, product and/or components to our members
in exchange for marketing exposure in the outdoor health,
fitness and athletic market.
Level of Corporate Sponsorship for the 2008 Season
Sponsorship categorization is determined by level of
financial support and/or product and equipment equivalent.
